Still making progress

I've taken about two weeks off from vision therapy.  I've still been doing quite a bit of virtual reality stuff, however.  Man, I'm seeing quite a bit of progress through that time.  It's weird how I notice such improvement even when I'm not doing vision therapy.

Couple things I've noticed as of late.

One is that it's becoming quite a bit easier to use and pay attention through both eyes.  Still no full control, but my control is getting quite good.  The tracking and coordination is getting quite good.

The other is that I'm able to read all day if I want, and my eyes don't get into this sticky mode where they want to stay converged (reading books requires quite a bit of convergence).  There is a little stickiness, but it goes away pretty quickly.

I am finally noticing longlasting changes to my eyes.

I still don't when my goals will be achieved, but I don't care.  Taking it one week, one month, one year at a time.  It's not taking up that much time with my current regimen.  I'll get it soon, or not.  I'm good either way.

  1. Hey there,

Unfortunately I'm having zero luck at finding another domain to contact you through so I figured I'd just dump it here in the comments. Firstly, thank you so you so much for sharing your experiences in your journey to stereo vision; to say "I appreciate it" would be an immense understatement. I'm starting from your 2013 entries to understand as much as you've been willing to offer thus far. I found your blog as a consequence of researching the current market options for syntonizers. I see you bought the Color Boy from across the pond - a thousand bucks - ouch lol. Not hatin' on you but I feel the pain of spending big bucks for relatively simple technology/treatment. I'm currently in the same boat.

Me as a VT patient: I'm a 32yr old amblyope due to childhood esotropic strabismus. I'm 13 weeks or so into VT. $500/month for the level of service and expertise I'm getting from the "vision therapists" sure leaves a lot to be desired in all honesty. With that, the majority, if not all of the progress I've made with waking up my brain to using my right eye has come at a consequence of hard grinding at the house as I structure my own VT routine which I feel is appropriate for how my brain is responding to the stimulus.

Anyhow, outside of my identity as a patient of VT, I'm also a curious minded mechanical engineer with an inherent interest in optimizing systems, structures, devices and so on. I feel like you and I could have some interesting conversations if you are up to that which may have some undertones of equipment design. Oddly enough (if your account info is correct) we are very close neighbors which I find pretty fascinating. I see that you live in Round Rock; I'm about 1.5hrs south down near Canyon Lake - Just west of New Braunfels.

So far I'm learning that you and I have many parallels in our journeys to binocularity. It damn near sounds too good to be true. I've yet to venture into VR headsets such as the Vivid Vision unit.....ok at this point I reckon I'm just rambling. Suffice to say I'm a bit excited to find you out here in the abyss. If you're down for meeting up one of these days and sharing some ideas and experiences, I'll buy the beers.

Hope to hear back from you soon! Shoot me a line through email if that works best. wilkerson.ac@gmail.com or on the telly at 817-304-5504.

    Cheers brotha - Cody Wilkerson

oh yeah - following the "my web site" link on your profile links out to "seeinginstereo.net" which is not functioning correctly. FYI.

    1. Hi Cody. Nice to meet you. Sounds like we could possibly have some interesting conversations indeed. And yeah, I'd be down with meeting up and catching a brew. I would love that.

  2. Hey partner. Been reading more of your blog....thanks again for all the info you're sharing. Its very encouraging. Quick question: If your are in the Round Rock area, what doctor/VT office are you using for for your Vivid Vision system. I feel like that is a direction I would like to explore but the provider locator indicates the closest office is in Lewisville, TX. Can you shed some light on this? Many thanks. - Cody
